Cut out shoulders

I couldn't find the perfect white cut out shoulders blouse anywhere, so I decided to take my sheer shirt from H&M and turn it into a little diy project. An evening of cutting and sewing later, and my shirt was re-born.

The black harem pants I'm wearing here is one of my favourite pants. I love the loose fit of it and the fabric has a sort of velvet feel to it which makes it feel richer and more special when wearing it.

Today is queensday here in Holland. We're going out to check the flea market hoping to find some great vintage stuff and just see where the day takes us. What are your plans for the weekend?

Minty chocolate doubles

With the weather being all nice and warm, these refreshing cookies are the perfect afternoon treat! Even on lesser warm and cloudy days like this they are a true delight. I've planned on making these earlier, but didn't get round to it until this week.

What you will be needing for about 15 of these delights :

225 grams soft butter
140 grams light brown sugar
1 egg yolk slightly beaten
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
250 grams all purpose flour
25 grams cocoa powder
50 grams bigarreau cherries (chopped up)
120 grams dark chocolate (chopped up)
50 grams white chocolate (chopped up)
a pinch of salt

1. First of , mix together the butter and sugar in a bowl until creamy and add the egg yolk and vanilla extract. Sift the flower and cocoa powder and add to the mixture together with a pinch of salt and the cherries.

2. Make two balls out of the dough, wrap them in plastic foil and let them rest in the fridge for a bout 60 min.

3. Preheat the oven to 190C/374F. Take out the dough and roll it out in between two sheets of parchment paper and divide it into 6x6cm squares. Transfer the parchment paper with your squares on to a baking sheet and bake them in the oven for about 10-15 minutes.

4. Once taken out of the oven, put a dinner mint on top of half of them and place the other half on top of the dinner mint making a cookie sandwich. Do this while the cookies are still warm so the dinner mints start to melt a little and secure the two sides together.

5. When your cookie sandwiches are cooled off, melt the dark chocolate in a metal bowl over some simmering water.

6. Using a pastry brush, make sure your sandwiches are covered in chocolate, don't forget the sides ;) And let them cool off completely till the chocolate is solid.

7. Melt the white chocolate the same way you did the dark, and use it to make some decorative stripes on top of your minty chocolate sandwich. ( I forgot to buy the white chocolate, so I used white icing instead. Worked perfectly as well :)

For my taste these are the perfect cookies for the classic 'milk & cookies' combination, but they will taste delicious with whatever drink you like!

H&M - Fashion against aids

Since yesterday, we can all go out and buy the items from the H&M FAA collection. I wasn't sure before if I was gonna try and get something, but that yellow bag just kept on making circles in my head so I got online yesterday morning and clicked it right into my shopping bag along with some other stuff ;) Hopefully any time soon these beauties will arrive at my doorstep :

The dress : Roman style

For a hot (I was gonna say summer..) spring day like Saturday I took out my, slightly oversized double layered and let's not forget very comfortable, Zara dress. It is actually a knee-length dress but hey, I gotta start building up that tan so I belted it up to a mini and as a plus I really like the roman style it takes on the moment you belt it at the hips.

Wore it with some flats during the day doing some shopping and lots of walking, but dressed it up for the evening meeting up with friends and making it a more night time appropriate outfit. Will show you those pictures tomorrow but first some shots of the day time version :)

Sunday Select

  • My new Mia Secret crackle nail polish, I love that it is in white which makes it much more appropriate for spring.
  • Say 'hi' in the window ;)
  • A very quick, but delicious home made pizza.
  • Small update on our house, finally they started putting up the walls. And in one week time they already finished the first floor, yay!
  • Easter decorated cupcakes at my mum and dad's.
  • I didn't put up any easter decorations this year until the very last moment and I'm glad I did it anyway 'caus it gives such a nice bright and spring feeling to the house.

Did you have a nice week and happy easter? I certainly enjoyed today spending it with my family and enjoying the o-so-nice weather again that has been treating us with loads of sun the past week. It's almost 2 am, so time for me to go to bed and get some rest for tomorrow. We are going to a concert with some friends and since we've both catched a cold we're gonna need some rest and take things very slow until tomorrow evening!

Enjoy your week sweeties!
Lots of love, Daphne

7 inches from the midday sun

Our first outdoor dinner. Since we don't have a back garden, we always go the field at the back of our house to enjoy the sun and relax a bit. Yesterday we took our meal outside and made it into a little picknick with some lemonade, fruit and a huge blanket to sit on.

The weather forecast is very promising for this weekend. They say it's gonna be 28 degrees celsius, so officially the hottest days of this year so far. I'm gonna go and have a look in my closet right now 'caus there's so much I can't wait to wear, I'll better start deciding now ;)
