COMING HOME FROM THE COLD [PERSONAL]

It's either tea or hot chocolate, but there's nothing better than curling up on the couch with some warm socks, a hot beverage and pet bunny on-the-side (ain't he cute ;)

The past couple of months we've had a lot of expected and unexpected costs along the way and it has not been our most wealthiest time ever, nope being a new home owner isn't all rainbows and ponies. Don't get me wrong, we're doing great out here and it just forces us to be creative in a very good way!

Normally we love to go out and see a movie, go to dinner with friends or shop till.., well the shops close (yup, we're those type of peeps :) but lately we've been doing the budget versions which means watching a dvd indoors, having a super fun evening with our neighbours just having a glass of wine and some snacks, talking about everything and a bit more, and going out for walks whenever we can! The cold makes you wanna prepare a bit better before going out but gawsh it's sooo beautiful and gives you the best photo's so what more do we want? ;)

A little bit of a personal post this time, but maybe some of you can relate to this in some way or another. Really hope you liked it!

LOTS OF LOVE, DAPHNE

FRESH LEMON CAKE WITH A DARK CHOCOLATE COATING

  1. Bake yourself a nice plain cake using a either a good mix or a recipe like this, adding some finely chopped dark chocolates (or chocolate chips) and zest of half a lemon to the mixture before baking. Let it cool on a rack for a bit.
  2. Roughly chop about 150 grams of dark chocolate and melt it in a metal bowl over some simmering water.
  3. Cover the top and sides of the cake with the melted chocolate (tip! put a piece of aluminium foil underneath to catch any excess chocolate from dripping on your kitchen counter ;)
  4. While letting the chocolate cool, zest the other half of the lemon and mix it with some fine sugar. Put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes and decorate the cake with it when the chocolate hasn't completely set but did firm up a bit.
  5. And now, make yourself a fine cup a tea or coffee and enjoy this fresh treat with a good strong taste of chocolate. Mmm... who doesn't love citrus with a bit of choc-au-latteee :)

This really is such an easy thing to do with any plain cake mix or recipe and I promise you, it makes alllll the difference! Let me know if you've tried this and what you think of it!

KISSES, DAPHNE

BEFORE THE SNOW

fake fur & long knit - H&M // thermo legging - Hema // boots - Ilse Jacobsen (1st seen here) // backpack - Asos

Just before the snow kicked in this week we went out for a loooong walk in the forest and looking at these pictures right now, it makes me long for those days again where you could go out the door without putting on about 6 extra layers..

For now I'm gonna close my laptop, make some popcorn, and watch Avatar on bluray.. ('cause we still haven't!!! Shame on us..) Not the type of movie I would usually pick out but heard so much awesome things about it we just HAD TO check it out for ourselves ;)

LOTS OF LOVE, DAPHNE

A YEAR IN PICTURES

A very warm and sweet hello to you guys! It's already the eleventh day of the year but I still want to wish you an amazing, healthy and loving year and let there be lots of moments that will make you laugh, feel loved, be happy and just be the best year so far.

Last year I did a post with 'the ones you haven't seen before' with all of the blooper pics from the past year. I loved that idea but ever since we moved in to our new place it seems like someone pressed fast forward and another year has passed so I thought it would be fun to do our life in pictures, 2012 style ;)

LOTS AND LOTS OF KISSES FOR 2013!
DAPHNE
